By using Type Your Way at typeyourway.com you accept the terms on this page. If you do not accept them, please stop using the site. We may update these terms, and the date at the top shows when they last changed.

What the service is

Type Your Way provides a browser-based typing speed test that measures words per minute, accuracy, raw speed and consistency, and can generate a printable certificate. It is provided free of charge, with no account and no subscription. We do not guarantee that the site will be available at all times or that it will work identically in every browser.

How you may use it

You may use the test as often as you like, for personal, educational or commercial purposes. You may not:

• Attempt to disrupt the site, probe it for vulnerabilities or overload it with automated traffic.
• Scrape or republish substantial parts of the site's text as your own.
• Use automated scripts to generate typing results and then present them as genuine human performance.
• Remove, obscure or interfere with advertising in a way that breaches our advertising partners' terms.
• Use the site in any way that breaks the law where you are.

About your results

Your score depends on the text sampled, the length you chose, your keyboard, your browser and how the timing resolves on your device. Two runs of the same length will rarely produce the same number, and results here will not match another site's test exactly. Treat the figures as a useful measurement, not as a formal assessment.

About the certificate

The certificate is generated in your browser from the result you just achieved and any name you type into the box. We do not verify identity, we do not supervise the test, and we do not keep a record of issued certificates. The reference number on it is generated locally and is not checkable against any database.

It is fine to attach it to an application as an indication of your speed. It is not a proctored qualification, and anyone who needs certainty should run their own supervised test. Presenting a certificate you did not earn is your problem, not ours.

Content and intellectual property

The design, code, written content and branding of Type Your Way belong to us and are protected by copyright. You may link to any page freely and quote short passages with attribution. You may not copy the site wholesale or pass its content off as your own.

Advertising

The site is supported by advertising. Adverts are supplied by third parties and their content is theirs, not ours. We do not endorse advertised products and we are not responsible for what happens on a site you reach by clicking an advert. Anything you buy from an advertiser is a matter between you and them.

Links to other sites

Where we link out, it is because we think the destination is useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their privacy practices.

No warranty

The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that it will be error free, uninterrupted, or that any measurement it produces is accurate for a given purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Type Your Way is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site, including loss of data, loss of opportunity, or any decision made on the basis of a score shown here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Your locally stored data

Your history lives in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data, using private browsing, or switching device or browser will remove it, and we cannot restore it because we never had a copy. Keep your own note of any result that matters to you.

Governing terms

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
